- NEO-NAZI HATE GANG TARGETS PAISLEY- Mar 8 2004 MSP WARNS GROUP THEY ARE NOT WELCOME PAISLEY has been targeted by a vile group of neo-Nazis. The November 9th Society is "very active" in the Paisley area and is trying to recruit new members. And the extremist group - which denies the Holocaust took place, persecutes Jews and homosexuals and wants to throw all immigrants out of the country - already has members in other parts of Renfrewshire, including Lochwinnoch and Neilston. Police have told the Paisley Daily Express they are monitoring the group's activities. And Paisley South MSP Hugh Henry, who is also Deputy Justice Minister, last night said N9S are not welcome in Renfrewshire. Mr Henry added: "While you will always get one or two people whose views are obnoxious, I'm sure the decent people of Paisley will treat these extremists with the contempt they deserve." A key figure in the N9S Scottish Division, told the Express that interest in the organisation has been steadily growing in the Paisley area and claimed it has been fuelled by outrage over the September 11 terror attacks and the way the recent war in Iraq was handled. Existing members in Renfrewshire are encouraged to distribute recruitment leaflets to friends and like-minded people who may be sympathetic to the group's vile views. New members are also being recruited through the N9S website and by word of mouth. A N9S source said: "We already have members in Renfrewshire and interest from the area is on the increase. People are fed up with the Government and now they're turning to us. "Our members are expected to buy leaflets and distribute them to others. We also hand out leaflets at places where there is a large gathering of the public, such as shopping centres." The November 9th Society, which also calls itself 'Britain's Nazi Party', takes its name from the events of November 9, 1923, when Adolf Hitler led National Socialists on an ill-fated march through Munich. The Nazis were stopped in their tracks by armed police and, during a shoot-out, 16 of them died. Members of N9S claim that "the white Aryan race is superior to all others" and want all non-Aryans to be "expelled back to their own countries". In one sickening leaflet, N9S supremo Kevin Quinn states: "Asylum seekers would be asked to leave immediately. If they refused, they would be marched to the coast by the Army and told to swim." However, N9S insists the group is not racist and is opposed to sectarianism. A source said: "We have absolutely nothing against coloured people but we do think that they should be returned to their homeland. "We operate within the law and we do not believe in violence. We believe that discussion is the way to resolve the problems we face. "We know that our views are controversial and we have to be very careful as a result of the tremendous opposition we face. "However, we have the right to express our views, even if some people don't like them." Mr Henry believes N9S have "no standing or influence" in Paisley. However, he said: "I will ask Strathclyde Police to monitor any reported neo-Nazi or racist activities." A police spokesperson added: "We are aware of this group and will respond to any complaints that we receive. "If we receive reports of any offences being committed then we will investigate such matters most vigorously." http://icrenfrewshire.icnetwork.co.uk/news/localnews/pdenews/pdenews/content_objectid=14028616_method=full_siteid=63858_headline=-NEO%2DNAZI%2DHATE%2DGANG%2DTARGETS%2DPAISLEY-name_page.html
